Yes, the new academic year is starting. The summer vacation is coming to an end. I am relaxed and chilled and trying to squeeze into all my clothes after putting on weight over the summer. But, as I start to think about the new year, I always like to try and think ahead at what I hope to achieve. And, what could be better than a blog post to share these aims with you.
Keeping everything balanced.
One thing I am keen on doing is not working myself into the ground this year. Usually, after a hectic first semester, I am run down. This leads to me catching every bug which is floating around which means that my facial neuralgia is set off and I succumb to a life of paracetamol and very little sleep.
I need to be careful this year. Everything needs to be balanced. I need to do my work and nothing more and also no overdo any streaming and/or video gaming. I’m not going to volunteer for anything. Going to keep my head down and my blood pressure. Despite being a rather simple target, this is probably the hardest one to achieve. I’ll keep you posted.
More and more technology
I’m not very good at putting myself out there. I constantly struggle with convincing myself that what I know or do is of any use to anyone. I rarely present and avoid sharing apart from through blog posts and videos. Even with these, I dread looking at the analytics since I just feel that low figures mean I am not proficient or good enough to be talking about technology.
I need to move away from this mindset and start to share what I am doing and have personal confidence. I am more than happy to accept feedback although I have to remember that everyone has their opinions and that does not mean that my own thoughts are invalid.
I might not be the best. However, I do enjoy what I am doing and think that I am supporting learning. So … I will try to get more of my work/blog published and participate more in presenting my work. If you are reading this (probably both of you) and you would like me to share something, then please do let me know.
Podcasting and Streaming
I have some plans for more podcasting and live streaming. These are currently in the planning stage, but I must say I am very excited about both the ideas. My dream is always to be employed or self-employed as a content creator. I think what I have to be careful about – linking back to my first point – that my creator life and work-life is kept separate. I want to get a regular podcast being created and a regular live stream. Hopefully, people would enjoy them and maybe, just maybe, it would open up other doors to me.
If I had the opportunity to write a monthly blog post for a site I would definitely grab it firmly with two hands! And my keyboard!
As always, I have typed this as my thoughts have flowed. I don’t want to give myself too many targets to achieve, so these three will probably do me nicely. Remember you have a job to do in al this. Let me know when I am deviating, when you see me doing well and when you don’t hear from me. As with my streaming, if I am answerable to my subs/readers/listeners then it keeps me going when I am feeling down.
Thanks for reading, and sorry for the overuse of the passive voice.
